Committee Mission Statement

To represent and promote mutual business interests between both Thai and South African businesses of our membership in Thailand and to further increase awareness of potential trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. In addition to the commercial aspects listed above, the Chamber is also interested in furthering social and cultural understanding between the different nationalities represented in the Chamber. The people who are dedicated to ensuring SATCC fullfils its Mission in Thailand (2017 – 2018)

Ragil Ratnam
Chairman

Lead Coach Pure Growth Asia Ragil Ratnam is an Executive Coach and Strategic Leadership Consultant based in Bangkok, Thailand. Ragil has more than 25 years of global corporate and academic experience, having worked both internally and as an external resource for various multi-national corporations across several continents. His career includes lecturing in Pretoria, South Africa, Talent Management and Leadership Development for Old Mutual in Cape Town, Boston and London, and Talent Development for Credit Suisse Investment Banking Asia Pacific based in Singapore. His blend of psychological training and corporate experience, as well as his experience with diverse cultures, allows a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to building high performance at a senior leadership level. Ragil has worked with clients in a range of industries including Banking, Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, and Manufacturing. He currently facilitates and coaches in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and China for a variety of clients. In addition to his professional career, Ragil has been deeply involved in the South African Thai Chamber of Commerce since his arrival in Thailand. He has worked on the Board for 4 years and in 2016 took on a Vice-Chairman role. He is also a member of the Events Committee and acts as Content Curator for the quarterly SATCC e-Newsletter.

Peter Taylor
Treasurer

Director of PKF Advisory (Thailand) Limited. Peter grew up in the Midlands of Natal, matriculating at Maritzburg College and graduated from the University of Natal with a Bachelor of Accounting degree. After completing Articles of Clerkship and sitting the Final Qualifying Exam of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants Peter set up a boutique consultancy specializing in construction engineering and agriculture. In 1995 Peter relocated to Mozambique and continued in consulting and was acknowledged as being an expert in providing 3rd World solutions for 3rd World problems. In 2004 Peter relocated to Bangkok and joined Baker Tilly Thailand heading up the management services division and rising to partner. He also headed up Baker Tilly Consulting Myanmar. In 2013 Peter left Baker Tilly and joined Smythe Partners a specialist emerging market solution provider. Smythe Partners are in a joint venture with PKF Thailand. PKF Smythe are able to offer services covering audit, accounting. legal, tax, risk, mediation and consulting in Thailand. Peter is a member of the Thai Institute of Directors and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Linda Reay
Vice Chairman

Member Company: Amazon Colours Linda has resided in Thailand for six years, during which time she helped set up and manage of Amazon Colours. With her husband, they brought South African technology into Thailand, and set up a business which remains the only point-of-sale colourant manufacturing factory in the country. Their Thailand HQ services the Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Russian paint markets. Being involved in every aspect of the company, has given Linda valuable practical business experience in Thailand. Back in South Africa she was involved in the TV industry business for over 20 years. She managed her own production company, served as the Executive Producer of an investigative journalism show, worked for Pay-TV operator MultiChoice at General Management level and also as CEO of a Mobile Broadcast TV business for the Naspers Group. Linda holds various tertiary qualifications, is a good communicator, has a practical approach to problem solving and can lead diverse teams. She is also passionate about giving back to her community and has spearheaded Jabulani, the SA social organization in Thailand, which has formed a successful strategic co-operation with the SATCC. She has served on the SATCC Board for two years, acted as Chairperson of the Events Committee and is currently the Editor of the SATCC e-Newsletter.

Eric Hallin

Rakesh Kumar

Member Company: Roxland International Co. Ltd. Rakesh’s personal experience in dealing with South Africa dates back to around 1986 before even the South African embassy in Thailand was established. He was also on the committee of Indian Thai Chamber of Commerce Between 1998-1999 as joint secretary and director to Joint Foreign Chambers coordinating Committee in Thailand. His company, Roxland is now established in Thailand for 5 years but prior to that he was a director in Harrytex (Thailand) Co., Ltd for the past 20 Years, with his main focus and role being to build relationships with South African Clientele for exports of products out of Thailand to South Africa. Rakesh has been member of the SATCC Board for the past year and has provided a good perspective on business and trade between Thailand and South Africa from his own personal experience, and provided ideas and contributions on how to build better trading relationship between South Africa and Thailand. He is a strong supporter of the SATCC and values the way it organizes small and big events to keep the South African community in close touch. Rakesh’s experience in trade between South Africa and Thailand helps him in building business ties going forward.​

Tom Bishop
Director

Current Chairman of SATCC Travel & Tourism Committee, the MD of DTC Travel Co Ltd, Tom Bishop is a 25 year Bangkok resident and established his specialist travel and tour company in 1995 initially to serve Thai-based expatriates with both outbound and inbound travel arrangements.. Post 1998 economic collapse, the clientelle database expanded dramatically to a regional capture, extending as far as the Middle East. With inbound referrals from elsewhere adding to the mix, DTC Travel is truly a global player in the niche market of customised travel including golf, medical tourism,sports and adventure, specialist cruises, war and remembrance tours and events management, Tom also provides frequent media travel articles and blogs as well as having presented “The Travel Bishop” for a 2 year period, aired on RadioBangkok.

Policy for the Chamber is developed and directed by an elected committee , headed by a President and two Vice Presidents.Following the election of the General Committee in October of each year, portfolios of responsibility are assigned to each committee member. These are based on the measures considered necessary for the achievement of the Chamber’s strategic goals and may vary from year to year, depending on the perceived need to change emphasis or implement improvement measures.
